New Side Project

April 26, 2007

Things have been fairly quiet here lately. Just posting to plug my newly created review blog, “Mediagasm“. Just a place for me to post reviews of music, books, movies, places, etc that I tend to write. Check it out!

Happy Friday the 13th Everyone!

Today was a good day. I got to work at like 10 after picking up my co-worker and we ended up going to a pizza place for a looooong lunch. Afterward we went to see the new Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, which was… alright.

Yea. I don’t really know why I’m posting at all. I’m at a Friday the 13th party so I’m gonna go. Hope everyone is having a great Friday!

Same ol’, Same ol’

April 12, 2007

So. Basically nothing amazingly interesting has been going on lately. Charlie’s sister is out of town so he is house-sitting, which affords us a GREAT opportunity to spend some quality time together just the two of us, which we don’t get often enough. It also lets me play LEGO Star Wars II to my heart’s content, because that’s just how I roll.

No progress with the new podcast yet. Recording location is my biggest hiccup as the walls in my house are super thin and my parents are pretty much NEVER gone. I’d rather them not be privy to my podcast. There’s a kind of secret passageway behind my bathroom that runs around the side of the house to a big secret storage room that’s connected to my dad’s closet that would be perfect to convert into a recording studio (all it needs is a table, a chair, and a lamp, all of which are readily available) since it’s all insulated and therefore has pretty good acoustics. We’ll see how that turns out though.

In Generation Q related news, the site is growing so fast! It’s crazy. In the past few weeks a veritable BEVY of new features has been added, my favorite of which has got to be the Queerpedia, a GLBT-centered Wikipedia clone. It’ll be cool to see where that all progresses from here. I’m working on getting some fresh faces into the US team and have 3 good columnists lined up at the moment. So if anyone out there is interested in writing (for free) for an awesome (and rapidly growing) worldwide news outlet, drop me a line at and we’ll talk =)

It’s an interesting experience to be able to lead a team like this, with the added aspect of building and adding to the team. I’ve never done anything like it before and it’s a pretty cool deal altogether.

For any BOTI listeners that read this, remember, the next episode is the giveaway for the Red Collar EP, “Heroes and Villians!” It’s a great CD and I encourage everyone to go check out Blonde on the Inside and enter!

Rockin’ Out To: “Love Me Too (Live Recording)” – Edward NelsonCurrent Book Fixation: “Shadows of the Empire” – Steve Perry

So I finally succeeded in transferring all of my old LiveJournal posts into this blog. There’s a shitload (like 177 new entries now added) so if anyone besides me really cares to flip through them, they’re there. It took a lot of effort to get it done. I didn’t want to export month by month like you have to do on the LJ website so I jumped onto our PC and had to go through a log rigamarole to get the one .xml file. But it’s done and I’m happy.

It’s kinda surreal to read through all my old entries from waaaay back when. I was a completely different person long ago, and not a person I’m altogether pleased with. But I can feel better knowing that I left that person behind and have grown a LOT and learned a LOT. Not to mention got a better browser that will proofread out all my typos…

Anyway, no headway with the new podcast idea. But I’ll keep y’all posted.

New Podcast?

April 4, 2007

Hello again. I’m in a bit of a quandry. I’m really thinking about starting a new podcast that would be done by just me (maybe have a guest every so often, maybe not), but have some issues already.

  1. I don’t have anywhere to record. I like to get a bit crazy and recording a show at home (with the parentals around) wouldn’t go over too well.
  2. I dunno if I’ll have enough time, what with Mel and I already doing Blonde on the Inside and workign with Generation Q and having a life and all.
  3. Ideas for a good name and hook are eluding me.
  4. Unless Charles at would be fine with hosting this one as well, I’d have to find and start to pay for hosting, which pretty much kills the idea right there as I’m flat broke.

I’m sure there are more but those are the top 4 right now. The only name ideas I have (as of right now) are

  • A Luke By Any Other Name
  • The _____ with Gary Lovelady

The Gary Lovelady one seems fun because I could make up a persona of Gary, use a fake voice, but still use my own personal commentary while giving it a fun twist by making it Gary. We’ll see how that pans out.

If anyone (which I doubt there’s many at all given the fact I’ve only gotten 2 comments lol) has any ideas, I’m more than welcoming.

Regardless of whether it actually takes off, I’ll probably end up recording a pilot episode anyway to see if it ends up being something that works at all.

Well, back to working and brainstorming. Woo for multitasking!

I just sent my mom an e-mail just to say that I love her. Which feels nice. Even though I’m really frustrated with her today. But it’s just her way and I love her, so I deal.

I went out with some friends to Club 21 last night and had a blast. Charlie’s and my friend Anthony who is moving here from New Jersey went with me and we met up with Edward and his co-worker Farren. Anthony had a little to drink so that he would feel better dancing which had some fun results. Since it was Latin night, they were playing a lot of music with salsa and cha-cha beats, and at one point Edward and I started fake salsa-ing. We had no idea what we were doing but we looked damn fantastic doing it. =P Well, I should say he did, but since I was dancing with him I looked good too.

I get to pick my baby up from the doctor’s today (I took my laptop to the Apple store to get repaired on friday). I wasn’t expecting to get it back so soon, but I’m by no means complaining. Apparently I’m weird in that I like to wipe my entire hard drive (after backing up my necessary data) and start with a clean slate every so often. All of my documents and things I need are organized just the way I like them on my backups, so getting rid of all that extra stuff that builds up over time feels good. Unfortunately that means I have to reinstall Boot Camp and Windows XP, which wasn’t a fun process the first time, but shouldn’t be too bad now.

I’m leaving on Friday for Reno with Mel! We’re going to head up to University of Nevada, Reno to visit our friend from HS, Collier. We’re gonna see if we can borrow Charlie’s digital recorder so we can record our podcast on the drive up. Should make for an interesting show.

Well my stomach is GROWLING for food and I’m at work, so I should go appease the grumbles.
