Stuff and Things

July 16, 2007

That title is complete crap, incidentally.

I’m at work (as always) and bored (as always) and figured I’d have a non-tech overdose post. I AM looking for the Missing Sync program for the Hiptop platform, which has been discontinued (which hopefully means it’s free now).

This weekend was AWESOME. I got to spend the evening with Charlie on Saturday since his family was out of town. We watched “Minority Report” and “The Wedding Singer” and just relaxed and laid around. It was one of the most comfortable and relaxing nights I’ve had in a loooooong time. It’s amazing to me how just spending time with Charlie makes me feel, just completely at peace. He’s great =)

Sunday we went to McKinely Park with Lex and friends since we were unable to go to the lake, and I have to say it was a LOT of fun! We laid around on the blankets in the shade of a big ol’ tree and dozed and chatted and threw chips at each other. Nice lazy afternoon. We got frozen yogurt at Big Spoon afterward, which is always delicious.

I get to pick out some new glasses soon, hopefully next week. I’m wearing my glasses for the next few weeks since I need to give my eyes a break from my contacts, and my current frames are getting kinda tired. I’ve changed my style a few times since I got them (minor changes, but changes all the same) so they don’t really fit me anymore. So it’s time to go get some new ones! I was poking around the interwebs today and found a style that interests me, so I’ll toss it up here

I like the detatched sides on these with the thicker ear pieces. Dunno about the light brown on the sides since I wear stark black and white so often, and that might look a little odd. Never had anything Armani, and I bet these cost almost as much as my damn phone…

There was another style that was frameless and the earpieces can come off and be switched out with other colors and styles, which was interesting. With the same frames you can have variability.

Well, I’m gonna get back to data entry. I need to hit Edward up to try to podcast tonight. I really want to get the next episode up since it’s been more than a month. So hopefully keep an ear out!

So I’ve spent very little time working online for the last two weeks. I must admit, it’s been kinda nice to take a bit of a break from my online life, but now it’s time to get back into it and pull it all back together. After a camping trip with my boyfriend I checked all my e-mail accounts and had quite a bit of mail. Over the next few days I replied to a bunch of stuff and didn’t check it for a while, but apparently it all got denied somehow. I’m guessing there was an error with my mail program, which sucks, but I just need to tear myself away from WoW at home long enough to get to all of it.

So, in that vein of thinking, I have a number of things to do:

  • Re-check and sift through all my e-mail (probably upwards of 50 new mails at this point)
  • Follow up on the new reporter applications for Generation Q
  • Get my new Audiogasm up (Paramore’s new album ROCKS, by the way)
  • Get a few new articles started for Generation Q
  • Fine some article ideas to distribute to writers

Lots of other stuff to. Add to that detailing my car, going to the gym, dealing with family, and making as much time as possible with Charlie (which has been in short supply lately), and I’m a busy boy.

Speaking of Charlie, I’m trying to take him out on a date this weekend, and I have very few ideas for fun things to do. I have some money finally, but I’d much rather not have to spend a whole lot. But I would spend every cent I have to make him happy.

And now on top of everything else, I have been presented with some opposing opportunities at work and have some decisions to make (as to where I will be transferring to). It’s actually quite stressful at the moment, but I’m hoping that I make the right decision.

Well, time to get back to work. Woo.

Last night was another night of some crazy dreams. The night before they were all pretty bad, usually involving trouble with Charlie of some sort. Pretty stressful basically. Last night they were just odd.

In one, I was at a loft apartment of sorts with a bunch of people having a party. Then the windows all get blown in and a big floating colorful character comes in, saying something corny about the party being over. Apparently it’s a supervillian who has the power to use these tubes to blow out confetti. We all laugh about the confetti until suddenly theres this earsplitting crack and a few people are hurt by a massive amount of confetti hitting them. All of a sudden I realize i have the powers of Raven from the Cartoon Network TV show “Teen Titans.” So I decide I need to save everyone by putting up a barrier around all of us. I was getting hurt by the blasts of paper I was blocking, but I felt a strong sense of needing to save everyone.

In the other, I was entering a deck building competition. Yes. A deck building competition. Literally what it says. The finals of the competition were in L.A. so I had to drive down there. I get about 6 hours into the drive and I realize that I haven’t booked a hotel room, or packed anything I’d need for that matter. I call my friend Ian (who actually lives in Trinidad but lived in L.A. for the purposes of the dream I guess) to see if I might be able to crash at his place, but he’s busy and I can’t. I end up having to drive all the way home to pack my things and figure out somewhere to stay. As I’m someone who can’t stand not having things planned out, this was a pretty stressful dream.

Anyway, that was my night. Now I’m at work, bored as heck and tired to boot. Charlie McHunkyPants (great name, huh?) are going to go across the street to grab something to eat I think. Then I get to run to my old office filled with people who got me transferred to drop some stuff off.

The hits just keep on coming.

It’s quite 1:00 in the morning and I’m still awake. I’m bored as hell, and yet I’m not sleeping for some reason.

I want Charlie to be here really badly. I’ve barely seen him all week, and hanging out today wasn’t enough. The only contact we had was a little hand holding in the car and a quick peck when we were leaving. I need more time with him.

That is all.

Full Tummy…

May 25, 2007

Just got back into work from lunch with my co-worker. We got food from Pita Pit, a great little restaurant near by that you get pitas stuffed with meat and veggies. Basically Subway but with pitas. And actually good food.

Last night was so much fun. I called Mel before I got off work and I went over to her house while she got ready. We drove to the Downtown Plaza to visit Edward at Macy’s and go to the Build-a-Bear Workshop (until I realized after we got there that there is no Build-a-Bear Workshop there…). Edward came with us to walk around the mall a little, and to get my parking validated I got the new Orange Cream Frappucino at the *Bucks, which was basically a delicious creamsicle in a cup. I wanna see if I can try it with raspberry in place of the orange…

After the mall we drove to Paesano’s and had a great dinner and sat outside in the amazing summer night air. It was around 75 and a little breezy, so it was PERFECT. We got dessert at Big Spoon Yogurt down the street and stopped at a little botique to look around. I ended up buying some big sunglasses that I’m not too if I like a lot or not. They were $10 so not exactly a big investment. I’ll either sit on them or lose them in a few weeks anyway. I’ll post a picture when I get back home tonight.

Anyway, we dropped Mel back off at her house and I drove Edward to his mom’s in EDH. It was good to see his mom again, I haven’t seen her since we broke up like 3 years ago. She was really glad to see me too, which was really nice. We chatted for a while and then I took off.

Not too sure what’s going on tonight. I might go to the gym, since I feel like a fatty today, but I want to be able to spend a little time with Charlie. I haven’t seen him much outside of work this whole week and I miss him like the dickens. He’s to amazing of a boyfriend to not see for a week =)

Busy Busy Busyyyyyyyy!

May 23, 2007

Lots of stuff went on this weekend. Charlie turned 21 on Friday, so there was birthday dinner that night. Then Saturday we went to the lake with a bunch of people and went jet skiing, and subsequently got sunburned. And then that night I threw him a surprise party, which went swimmingly. Sunday I spent staining the deck and studying for my Stats final, and then Monday taking my final and finishing the deck. And there it is.

Mel and I got a fairly timely podcast episode up for Blonde on the Inside, which was pretty rockin’. I picked up Edward to record with us, which was a blast. I don’t get to see him too often because every time I’m going to hang out with him something comes up or I already have plans. But we listened to music and drove around and fought over the “Track Change” button, generally having a fun time. The song “White Houses” by Vanessa Carlton came on as I was driving him home after recording, and it’s a song that really reminds me of the summer he and I met and hung out for most of the summer (dated for 3 weeks at one point too lol). It was a fun nostalgic feeling, and we were both just singing along with the song with the windows down. It’s nice to have someone that I dated a long time ago and yet still be such good friends now.

Monday found me doing my final in my voice class too, which I actually surprised myself in. I’ve never really thought I was a great singer, but I sang a Nicaraguan lullaby called “Nino Precioso” and my teacher wasvery complementary. And a professional operatic trainer who has been all around the country saying that you have a great voice and should persue it is a little strange. But he reccomended that I check out some community theatres and go do some auditions and try to get into a show, and I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to. I really want to keep working with my voice, since singing has been one of the most fun musical things I’ve tried so far (next to marching band lol), but I don’t know if I want to go into musical theatre. So I have lots of research to do, might look into private solo lessons at one point, might just work on my own, but I’m definitely planning to stick with it.

Can you keep up?

May 11, 2007

So I just got back into work from lunch with my two co-workers. We ate pitas at The Pita Pit. I have to say, I really appreciate when restaurants offer free drinks to students. It’s just a little $1.50 savings that I truly like. So. There’s that. But work in general is boring (as per usual), so I’m taking time away from mundane data entry.

Charlie’s older brother is getting married to a wonderful lady today, which is really exciting. I’m sadly not going to be there, which sucks a lot, but I hope it goes well and everyone has fun. Then tomorrow I get to work on our big ass deck all day, which is technically my Mother’s Day present to my mom. All she wanted was to get the deck done, so something cheap and gets me outside and moving is perfect.

After work I’ll be heading on over to the gym with Lex and Kitty and gettin’ all sweaty. Though this time I’m going to remember to have my inhaler with me, as last night I got through about 15 minutes of cardio with Charlie before I had to either stop or die from oxygen deprivation. But I’m REALLY enjoying it so far. There’s something really satisfying about going to the gym and getting all gross and sweaty, and then being sore the next day. I feel like I’m finally taking steps to become happy with my appearance, which I haven’t been pretty much since I was made aware of it in high school.

Don’t be surprised if I post again before I leave work.

Yes, I’m that bored.

I am totally rockin’ out to the Aladdin soundtrack at work right now. It’s taking all I have not to sing out loud. It may be one of my gayer traits, but I love me some Disney!

So its been a day or two since I’ve posted, but as per usual there’s not a whole lot going on. I’ve been helping re-build our 1,200 square foot deck, which has been interesting. I like building things and its a good experience.

Also, Charlie and I took a trip to a really romantic little bed & breakfast here in Sacramento called The Amber House. You can check out some pictures and my Mediagasm review of it here.

Other than that, the only other especially blog-worthy thing is that I got myself a gym membership last Thursday. I went on Tuesday for the first time and then again yesterday, and I’m planning to go yet again tonight. Charlie is helping me to learn the things I need to do to lose the weight I’ve wanted to lose for YEARS (not to mention the 20 lbs I’ve gained since my car accident) and gain muscle at the same time. By far my favorite thing so far are the elliptical machines. I pretty much despise running, but the elliptical is so low impact and the time goes by so fast on it that I’m dripping sweat within 10 minutes and still feel good. I aim to be slimmed down to more where I want to be by mid summer, since I’ll be going up to 7 days in a week, a minimum of 5. Here are my measurements at the moment:

Height: 5’10”
Weight: 180 lbs
Chest: 40″
Actual Waist (I wear my jeans on my hips): 39″
BMI: 26.2%
I plan to get these measurements WAY down and finally be more satisfied with my body. I’ve disliked my body for years but never really did to much about it. Until now! I’m actually writing a weekly article over at GenerationQ.net about it. It’s an interesting human interest thing and also forces me into a measure of accountability.

Ok well I’ll cut this blog post off here, but I’m making a concerted effort to make myself post more often. No one really reads this, but it’s nice to have things that are going on on my life recorded down so I can look back on everything and remember what happened when.

Later days!

Same ol’, Same ol’

April 12, 2007

So. Basically nothing amazingly interesting has been going on lately. Charlie’s sister is out of town so he is house-sitting, which affords us a GREAT opportunity to spend some quality time together just the two of us, which we don’t get often enough. It also lets me play LEGO Star Wars II to my heart’s content, because that’s just how I roll.

No progress with the new podcast yet. Recording location is my biggest hiccup as the walls in my house are super thin and my parents are pretty much NEVER gone. I’d rather them not be privy to my podcast. There’s a kind of secret passageway behind my bathroom that runs around the side of the house to a big secret storage room that’s connected to my dad’s closet that would be perfect to convert into a recording studio (all it needs is a table, a chair, and a lamp, all of which are readily available) since it’s all insulated and therefore has pretty good acoustics. We’ll see how that turns out though.

In Generation Q related news, the site is growing so fast! It’s crazy. In the past few weeks a veritable BEVY of new features has been added, my favorite of which has got to be the Queerpedia, a GLBT-centered Wikipedia clone. It’ll be cool to see where that all progresses from here. I’m working on getting some fresh faces into the US team and have 3 good columnists lined up at the moment. So if anyone out there is interested in writing (for free) for an awesome (and rapidly growing) worldwide news outlet, drop me a line at luke@generationq.net and we’ll talk =)

It’s an interesting experience to be able to lead a team like this, with the added aspect of building and adding to the team. I’ve never done anything like it before and it’s a pretty cool deal altogether.

For any BOTI listeners that read this, remember, the next episode is the giveaway for the Red Collar EP, “Heroes and Villians!” It’s a great CD and I encourage everyone to go check out Blonde on the Inside and enter!

Wonderful

March 30, 2007

I don’t especially have a whole lot to say tonight, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it ends up being rather long.

I just have to say, my boyfriend is amazing. This last weekend he took me on a picnic to Folsom Lake out of the blue, which in itself was perfect. On top of that, he surprised me by giving me a bottle of mint body wash (the kind we used on our Hawaii trip) and the new “Sunset Heat” cologne by Escada that I told him a while ago that I wanted. Just sitting with him at the lake on a blanket was the best thing we could have done.

Today we had a mini fight, which in the end made me feel really bad about how I reacted and made me appreciate him even more. It wasn’t anything big, as we don’t really fight because we communicate really well, but even so it was enough to frustrate us both a lot. But after all was said and done, all I wanted to do was go to his house and give him a big hug and tell him I was sorry.

I tend to wax philosophic on the subject of Charlie, but oh well. I’m sleepy and if I keep typing I’ll probably cease making sense. I just uploaded the 11th episode of my podcast, so click the Blonde On The Inside link to the right and check it out!

I’m off to figure out how to import my LJ to WordPress effectively. Wish me luck!
