Wow… or… WoW Rather

June 21, 2007

So I’m in WoW mode now apparently. I just had my first night of playing for a while, and it’s quite enjoyable so far. Started my Blood Elf Priest “Enrith” and managed to get to level 10. One of the things that I’ve noticed most about the game so far is the artistic skill put into the design of the environment of this game. Namely I’m referencing the Blood Elf capital of Silvermoon City. However geeky you might think that the game in general is, you have to appreciate the skill put into designing and fleshing out the designs in this game. It’s quite impressive to just travel around this massive game world and see what these people have created.

Getting back into this realm of geekdom has actually inspired me to re-read the work I’ve put into the world I created a long time back and do some revising and adding. I created a new fantasy-based world with it’s own unique races (none of the human-dwarf-elf-orc etc standards), gods, histories, and soon to be magics and languages. It’s entertaining and a good outlet for some of the creativity that I’ve been missing in my life. One of the newest races I’ve added are called the “Vespertine,” the name being inspired by a song by my friend Edward’s band “The Belvedines.” “Vespertine” is an adjective that relates to something happening in the evening, usually in biology. It was also apparently the name of an album by Bjork, which I didn’t know.

Anyway, I’ve actually been pretty productive at work today and I’m going to jump back into it and get some more work done before I leave at 3.

So my podcast “Blonde on the Inside” is sadly at an end. As I’ve said a few times on both the podcast and it’s blog, unforseen circumstances have caused the show to end abruptly. Everyone is fine, no one is hurt or anything.

But in the same vein, I will be starting the other podcast I’ve been thinking about for quite a while, “Instant Gratification.” Edward, who guest hosted a lot on BOTI, will by my co-host on this show and it should be quite entertaining. We have a lot of ideas for what we want to do with the show, so definitely check it out. The first episode might be recorded this weekend, but might be later. I’m working on the podcast art, Myspace stuff, and all that managerial jazz right now, next up is to work with Edward on the layout of the show and to fine tune all of our ideas.

Check out Instant Gratification.

In other news, I’ve been a posting flurry over at Generation Q. It’s kinda nice to see my name up there a lot lol. We always could use more writers that can put up one article a week, so let me know if you’re interested.

Full Tummy…

May 25, 2007

Just got back into work from lunch with my co-worker. We got food from Pita Pit, a great little restaurant near by that you get pitas stuffed with meat and veggies. Basically Subway but with pitas. And actually good food.

Last night was so much fun. I called Mel before I got off work and I went over to her house while she got ready. We drove to the Downtown Plaza to visit Edward at Macy’s and go to the Build-a-Bear Workshop (until I realized after we got there that there is no Build-a-Bear Workshop there…). Edward came with us to walk around the mall a little, and to get my parking validated I got the new Orange Cream Frappucino at the *Bucks, which was basically a delicious creamsicle in a cup. I wanna see if I can try it with raspberry in place of the orange…

After the mall we drove to Paesano’s and had a great dinner and sat outside in the amazing summer night air. It was around 75 and a little breezy, so it was PERFECT. We got dessert at Big Spoon Yogurt down the street and stopped at a little botique to look around. I ended up buying some big sunglasses that I’m not too if I like a lot or not. They were $10 so not exactly a big investment. I’ll either sit on them or lose them in a few weeks anyway. I’ll post a picture when I get back home tonight.

Anyway, we dropped Mel back off at her house and I drove Edward to his mom’s in EDH. It was good to see his mom again, I haven’t seen her since we broke up like 3 years ago. She was really glad to see me too, which was really nice. We chatted for a while and then I took off.

Not too sure what’s going on tonight. I might go to the gym, since I feel like a fatty today, but I want to be able to spend a little time with Charlie. I haven’t seen him much outside of work this whole week and I miss him like the dickens. He’s to amazing of a boyfriend to not see for a week =)

Techno-Deprivation

There are four gadgets that would make my life SOOOO much easier…

Sidekick 3:

My Samsung t509 is nice, but with all the work I’m doing with Generation Q, Gay Socialites, Blonde on the Inside, and Mediagasm, not having a smartphone is killing me. And I really like the design of the Sidekick, they’re fun and still really useful. I suppose something with an actual word processor on it would be more practical, but for what I need it for a Sidekick would do just fine.

Note: Just learned about the Sidekick ID. Basically a Sidekick 3 with a better looking design but without the camera or bluetooth, and for about $100 less. If only I could get those two things with the new colorful design…

Mobile Internet for my Laptop:

Having a satellite-connected internet setup with my laptop would be nice too, for a lot of the same reasons as having a Sidekick really. Also, while I’m at work I could slack off more by going on Myspace and being able to not be blocked from anything worthwhile. But the service plans are expensive, and I’m broke.

iPod:

It’s an iPod. Why anyone would not want on is beyond me completely. I could also use it to listen to the music I’m going to be reviewing for Mediagasm while I work out and such. And THEN immediately type up some notes on my Sidekick 3 (that I don’t have…).

Handheld GPS Navigation (for the car):

I used to be a pretty good navigator, but lately (I blame the car accident and head trauma lol) I am TERRIBLE at getting places. I have to look up directions on Mapquest and print them to take them with me, and if the littlest thing is wrong on them (as it usually is), I’m screwed. And if I’m getting the directions from a friend, I have to call them constantly to find my way. Having a Tom Tom or another kind of GPS navigator would save me a lot of time and frustration from not knowing where I’m going.

So there you have it. There’s absolutely no way I can get any of these things, of course, unless someone buys them for me. Once the settlement comes in from my lawsuit (still waiting to hear the response from the other insurance company regarding our initial demand), I might be able to get a new phone and an iPod, but I don’t want to spend too much of the money on gadgets. Most of it (depending on how much I end up with) is paying for college at Sac State, so it’s not pocket money. Whatever is left after college money is going into a high interest bank account to wait and grow.

I’m just killing time. Work ends in 15 minutes and I’m done with all my stuff. No clue what I’m doing after I get off. I called Mel to see if she wants to meet up and work on some ideas I have for Blonde on the Inside, but no dice there. Maybe I’ll visit Edward at Macy’s if he’s working…

Busy Busy Busyyyyyyyy!

May 23, 2007

Lots of stuff went on this weekend. Charlie turned 21 on Friday, so there was birthday dinner that night. Then Saturday we went to the lake with a bunch of people and went jet skiing, and subsequently got sunburned. And then that night I threw him a surprise party, which went swimmingly. Sunday I spent staining the deck and studying for my Stats final, and then Monday taking my final and finishing the deck. And there it is.

Mel and I got a fairly timely podcast episode up for Blonde on the Inside, which was pretty rockin’. I picked up Edward to record with us, which was a blast. I don’t get to see him too often because every time I’m going to hang out with him something comes up or I already have plans. But we listened to music and drove around and fought over the “Track Change” button, generally having a fun time. The song “White Houses” by Vanessa Carlton came on as I was driving him home after recording, and it’s a song that really reminds me of the summer he and I met and hung out for most of the summer (dated for 3 weeks at one point too lol). It was a fun nostalgic feeling, and we were both just singing along with the song with the windows down. It’s nice to have someone that I dated a long time ago and yet still be such good friends now.

Monday found me doing my final in my voice class too, which I actually surprised myself in. I’ve never really thought I was a great singer, but I sang a Nicaraguan lullaby called “Nino Precioso” and my teacher wasvery complementary. And a professional operatic trainer who has been all around the country saying that you have a great voice and should persue it is a little strange. But he reccomended that I check out some community theatres and go do some auditions and try to get into a show, and I haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to. I really want to keep working with my voice, since singing has been one of the most fun musical things I’ve tried so far (next to marching band lol), but I don’t know if I want to go into musical theatre. So I have lots of research to do, might look into private solo lessons at one point, might just work on my own, but I’m definitely planning to stick with it.

I just sent my mom an e-mail just to say that I love her. Which feels nice. Even though I’m really frustrated with her today. But it’s just her way and I love her, so I deal.

I went out with some friends to Club 21 last night and had a blast. Charlie’s and my friend Anthony who is moving here from New Jersey went with me and we met up with Edward and his co-worker Farren. Anthony had a little to drink so that he would feel better dancing which had some fun results. Since it was Latin night, they were playing a lot of music with salsa and cha-cha beats, and at one point Edward and I started fake salsa-ing. We had no idea what we were doing but we looked damn fantastic doing it. =P Well, I should say he did, but since I was dancing with him I looked good too.

I get to pick my baby up from the doctor’s today (I took my laptop to the Apple store to get repaired on friday). I wasn’t expecting to get it back so soon, but I’m by no means complaining. Apparently I’m weird in that I like to wipe my entire hard drive (after backing up my necessary data) and start with a clean slate every so often. All of my documents and things I need are organized just the way I like them on my backups, so getting rid of all that extra stuff that builds up over time feels good. Unfortunately that means I have to reinstall Boot Camp and Windows XP, which wasn’t a fun process the first time, but shouldn’t be too bad now.

I’m leaving on Friday for Reno with Mel! We’re going to head up to University of Nevada, Reno to visit our friend from HS, Collier. We’re gonna see if we can borrow Charlie’s digital recorder so we can record our podcast on the drive up. Should make for an interesting show.

Well my stomach is GROWLING for food and I’m at work, so I should go appease the grumbles.

La di da!

June 9, 2005

So someone thinks I need to update more apparently, so I’m thinkin I’ll go ahead and do that.

This week’s been pretty good all areound actually. Got to go to Edward’s on sunday and hang out, and his mom let me drive him which I assume is a good sign. She had a talk with me about it though lol. I was intimidated, but it was fine. I enjoy being with him… even if we’re not talkign all the time, its nice to be able to just sit in silence and enjoy each other’s company…

I got my first hat yesterday! I finally decided that I like hats so I bought a Von Dutch hat off of Amazon for hella cheap, and its nice.

“I really want to hear your voice… I Miss you”
If you read that, that made me smile for like ever…

So I just fucking smashed my foot into the computer table. So I’m taking that as a sign that i need to stop.

Hello Again, friend!

May 31, 2005

My how long it has been! I notice a pattern of me writing in this for a while then not for a long time then coming back and startign an entry with something like “Wow! It’s been a long time!”

So I’m no longer in High School, which is awesome, though I don’t think it’s hit me yet. Graduation was great, and Grad Night was awesome, even though I got home at 6:30, and had to wake up at 10:30 to make it down to Sac. So after a weekend of parties and family and driving and sleep deprivation, I’m slightly sleepy.

I have a boyfriend! After… what is it… 10 MONTHS. I’ve dated in that time but it never got the title. As of yesterday, I, Luke Miller, am no longer single. And hes intelligent, beautiful, complex, intriguing, talented as all hell, and amazing. Infatuated much…? We’ve hung out lately and I kinda fell hard, and It’s nice to know that it wasn’t futile for once. His singing entrances me every time I hear it. Yep.

I spent $35 on a hat today. I found a pink and grey Von Dutch hat on Amazon and decided to be impulsive and buy it. I also discovered a new band I love on iTunes and downloaded their CD. Everyone go get the CD “Phantoms” by Acceptance, its grand. I also downloaded the Incredibles soundtrack, which is hot.

So I’m rambling now. Nite!
